Fatal Four: What does it mean?

The Fatal Four is the top four work place incidents that cause death. Deaths in 2016 totaled to 5,190 workers. That is nearly 14 deaths a day for the year! Specifically looking at construction industry, 991 of those deaths were in our industry. What are the top four accidents you may ask? Coming in first with 384 deaths is Falls. Falls contribute more than the next three accidents combined! In second with 93 deaths is Struck by an Object. This could be from material, machinery, or a number of workplace items. In third with 82 deaths is Electrocution. Faulty wiring or bad electrical cords are just two examples of this incident. It is always important to inspect all cords and outlets before using electricity. Lastly, with 72 deaths is getting caught in or between. When someone is caught in or between something it can cause bruising, broken bones, and death.
