RedLineIPS Composite FRP WEAR PADS

REDLINEIPS FRP WEAR PADS & PIPE CORROSION PROTECTION

Cogbill’s RedLineIPS FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic) Composite Wear Pad System is a non-metallic solution that delivers effective corrosion protection to industrial piping systems at the pipe support points, an expensive problem sometimes referred to as “Corrosion Under Pipe Support”. The FRP pads are fastened to a pipe using a two-part epoxy to isolate it from its supporting structures and to prevent metal-to-metal contact. This protects the pipe’s paint coating, and also prevents moister from being trapped between pad and pipe, which would promote corrosion. As a result, corrosion cells are prevented from ever forming on the pipe’s outer surface and damaging it, saving millions, potentially billons, of dollars in losses and damages every year.

CORROSION UNDER PIPE SUPPORT (CUPS)

Industrial piping systems typically rest on supporting structures at intervals predetermined by engineering specifications. These supports can be made from concrete, steel, wood, etc. Such pipes often vibrate and move due to expansion and contraction, rotating equipment such as pumps and compressors, fluid flow, etc. These points of contact between pipe and support rub and scratch off a pipe’s protective coating, leaving expensive piping bare and exposed to the elements.

Additionally, airflow is reduced in the areas where a pipe and its supports meet, which causes moisture to remain at those locations for longer periods. As a result of this entire dynamic, external corrosion at the pipe support points (CUPS) starts to form and spread.

REDLINEIPS FRP WEAR PAD SYSTEM COMBATS CORROSION

Cogbill RedLineIPS Wear Pad System Complete with Accessories

The RedLineIPS Fiber Reinforced Plastic Wear Pads, or FRP Wear Pads, are an effective solution to external corrosion that damages piping systems at the pipe support points. They protect a pipe by saddling it from below and isolating its lower surface from the surface of the supporting structure.

When the two-part epoxy is applied and the pad is installed, a perimeter epoxy bead is also applied around the perimeter of the pad. This will seal the pad off and prevent water molecules from ever entering between pad and pipe. This will also allow the pad to protect the pipe’s lower external surface from friction, thus preserving its protective coating. As a result of all this, the pad will effectively protect pipes from external corrosion at the pipe support points (CUPS) for the duration of the system’s long lifecycle.

The RedLineIPS FRP wear pads are designed, manufactured, and tested specifically to be used as pipe supports. They are a composite material consisting of many layers of continuous strand mat laminated and impregnated with top quality vinyl ester resin. This proprietary material has high load capacity and low friction surface, which allows the pads to effectively support and protect a pipe as it moves over a beam or support location. The material is also UV stable and load tested to ensure peak performance in the most demanding environments such as marine, offshore, and highly corrosive environments.

RedLineIPS FRP wear pads and epoxy combine to provide high shear and compressive strength*. Each pad has a textured interior profile finish covered by a protective film, for better adhesion. Cogbill’s RedLineIPS brand of piping products offers a comprehensive system that includes all necessary tools and accessories, as well as installation and/or training services, per customer request.
