“Leadership is not about a title or a designation. It’s about impact, influence and inspiration. Impact involves getting results, influence is about spreading the passion you have for your work, and you have to inspire team-mates and customers.” – Robin S. Sharma

Becoming a leader is a wonderful opportunity to reach out. Reach out to your employees, your boss, and even the community. Give your time and help inspire younger generations and help light the fire for success for those who work beside you. Be the difference you want to see. Be a leader who shows integrity and encourages everyone around to reach for their goals and work for their success.

Hexavalent Chromium

Hexavalent Chromium was the safety topic of Tuesday’s meeting. OSHA has come out with a new standard. This Standard changed the exposure limit to 5 micrograms of Cr(VI) per cubic meter of air as an 8 hour time-weighted average. During our meeting we watched an educational video. In the midst of the video, they went into detail about the causes of Hexavalent Chromium. Following the causes were the health risks associated with long term exposure. Then continuing to how to protect yourself with the proper PPE. Lastly, it spoke about the responsibilities of the company in keeping employees safe.

As a group, we learned that Hexavalent Chromium can cause: skin irritation, asthma, kidney and liver damage, teeth degradation and even lung cancer. Proper PPE is given to employees who will be exposed to the toxic dust or liquid. After the video we had a group discussion about the video. This gave our employees the opportunity to voice any ideas, opinions, or concerns and ending another educational safety meeting.
