The Who, What and Why of Project Management

Project Management

Steve Hartt is Cogbill Construction’s Project Manager- there are many different aspects that project management involves. Cost estimating, direct sales, customer and employee relations are just a few. With almost 40 years in the construction industry, Mr. Hartt is well educated and loaded with experience making him a perfect fit for the Cogbill Construction team.

What Does a Project Manager Do? Project Managers do exactly that, they manage the projects/jobs that take place whether it be in the field or in the shop. Field Jobs refers to the jobs that are not completed in our facilities, this means the project manager and his team go out into the field to complete a job for a customer. The Project Manager does everything from estimating how much a job will cost, setting up and managing a budget for the job, handling any and all customer relations, ensuring the project is completed on or before the deadline and managing the employees that work on the particular project. This person must have management skills, customer relation skills, employee relation skills and be knowledgeable in what products and services the company offers and how they serve their customer’s needs. Another important aspect of being a Project Manager is knowing your employee’s strengths and weaknesses; knowing which employees will be able to complete the project efficiently and to the customers’ quality expectations. What does our Field Manager do? Steve Hartt began at Cogbill Construction in August of 2016; in only one year he has become an essential part of what is Cogbill Construction. Steve has given Cogbill Construction stability and reliability, which is the essence of Cogbill Construction. We are here to give our customers a company that they can always rely on to stay true to our word, a company that others can trust, and Steve has helped us achieve this.
