Staying Safe with Ms. Nicole | Work Area Inspection

Work Area Inspection | Cogbill Safety

Work Area Inspection

Our Tuesday safety meeting jumped off with a fantastic discussion on work area inspection. We discussed the four focus items to check everyday before work. These are tool condition, organized work area, trip hazards, and hand hazards.

Tool conditions are important to know before starting work. Inspecting all tools and machinery before the start of the work day will decrease the chances of an accident. Evaluating tools and machinery allows for the worker to catch problems before use. An organized work area is second priority. Your work area tidiness can help maintain a safe area of operations. This allows for a worker to do their job and not worry about clutter. Never settle for a chaotic work station!

Trip hazards and hand hazards are common causes for injuries in the workplace. Always watch where you walk and avoid getting tangled in cords or walking into material. Keep in mind where you place your hands. Some surfaces are hot and others can cause you to lose a finger or more. Be contentious of your surroundings and take responsibility for your safety.

Smoking Habits

In closing of the safety meeting, we had a heart to heart about the dangers of cigarettes. More than 480,000 people die in the United States each year from smoking. Effects of smoking cause the following health conditions: coronary heart disease, stroke, and even cancer. We strongly encourage our employees to fight back against their habit and maintain their health. Here at Cogbill our employees are top priority.
